Effective today, 07 October 2010, we have changed our name to the NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL RESPONSE CORPS. We will no longer be affiliated with the National Medical Resserve Corps. Other than that there are no other changes being made to the organization.
As s result of the name change we will be issuing new volunteer identification cards. We will be taking photos at the next General Meeting on 28 October 2010. See previous posts for additional information on this meeting.
We will also be taking orders for new uniforms with the new name and we will have a “buy back” program for you to turn your old uniforms back in for a new one and receive a discount. Details of this program will be announced when they are finalized.

Medical Training
At the October Meeting of the NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS (NEOMRC) we will be presenting “PEDIATRICS” By Tim Lanese.
Board of Trustees Elections
In addition we will also be holding elections for two of the five Board of Trustees Positions for NEOMRC. NEOMRC is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit corporation is governed by five trustees who fill the positions required in our articles of incorporation. Each trustee is elected from the membership of NEOMRC. This year the trustee positions held by Bob Fehlner and Bob Knaack are up for election. Elections will be held at the October membership meeting. Between now and the election is a period of open nominations. If you’d like to nominate someone, please e-mail T.J. Powell at tpowell@neomrc.org
To be eligible to be a trustee: You must be a member in good standing of NEOMRC for a period of no less than 2 years.
To be eligible to vote: You must be a member in good standing of NEOMRC. (Read: You must have paid your dues.)

Volunteers are needed for the American Diabetes Association Step Out Events. They take place in Akron (Lock 3) on October 3rd and in Youngstown (Canfield Fairgrounds) on Oct 17th. You will be needed in the morning and should be finished by early afternoon. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Doug Dever at ddever@neomrc.org

Once again, Medical & Communications volunteers are needed for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure® (Northeast Ohio Affiliate).
DATE & TIME: Saturday, 11 September 2010 - Fire Shift “B” - 06:00 am to 12:00 noon
WHERE: Wolstein Center – Corner of Prospect Avenue & East 21st Street
MEDICAL Volunteers needed to staff two First Aid Stations (to volunteer you must hold a State License as First Responders, EMTs, Paramedics, or Nurses)
COMMUNICATIONS: Amateur Radio volunteers are needed. You will need 440 MHz (70 cm) mobile or handheld equipment.
PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING. This is a short event, but it is a huge event too. Typically there are 30,000+ participants and spectators. We need your help to ensure a safe Race.

At the next Meeting of the NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS (NEOMRC) we will be organizing the NEOMRC Medical Supplies. The date of the meeting is Thursday 07/22/2010 and will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

We will be supporting the Greater Cleveland Triathlon on August 8th.
We are searching for Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, First Responders, and Amateur Radio Operators to Volunteer for this event. As part of the Emergency Medical Services, you will be providing Communications and/or Emergency Medical Service along the route of the Bicycle Portion of the event only.
