Komen Race for the Cure – Sep 11, 2010 (Cleveland)

Once again, Medical & Communications volunteers are needed for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure® (Northeast Ohio Affiliate).

DATE & TIME: Saturday, 11 September 2010  -  Fire Shift “B” - 06:00 am to 12:00 noon

WHERE: Wolstein Center – Corner of Prospect Avenue & East 21st Street

MEDICAL Volunteers needed to staff two First Aid Stations (to volunteer you must hold a State License  as First Responders, EMTs, Paramedics, or Nurses)

COMMUNICATIONS: Amateur Radio volunteers are needed.  You will need 440 MHz (70 cm) mobile or handheld equipment.

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING. This is a short event, but it is a huge event too.  Typically there are 30,000+ participants and spectators.  We need your help to ensure a safe Race.

Membership Meeting — Medical Support Logistics and Protocol Safety Training — August 2010

The August Membership Meeting for NEOMRC will be held on a special night and cover a special topic.

The date of the meeting is Thursday August 5th at 7:00 PM.  This meeting will be held at SOLON MEDICAL CAMPUS of SAINT VINCENT CHARITY HOSPITAL in the Basement Meeting Room. This facility is located at 33001 Solon Road, Solon, Ohio 44139.

The meeting will be Medical Support Logistics and Protocol Safety Training for the Bike MS Pedal to the Point Ride 2010.

All medical volunteers for the event are highly encouraged to attend this meeting.  If you are a volunteer and  cannot attend please contact T.J. Powell and we will make other arrangements.. The meeting will include a review of the medical protocols and the basic logistics for the event. Please bring three (3) photocopies of all of your certification cards to this meeting or have your original certifications available for verification (if photocopies cannot legally be obtained).

Ham Radio volunteers need not attend this meeting.  Jeff Garvas will be in touch with you concerning the logistics of the event.

Greater Cleveland Triathlon

July 4th, 2010

We will be supporting the Greater Cleveland Triathlon on August 8th.

We are searching for Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, First Responders, and Amateur Radio Operators to Volunteer for this event. As part of the Emergency Medical Services, you will be providing Communications and/or Emergency Medical Service along the route of the Bicycle Portion of the event only.

MS Pedal to the Point Ride 2010

We have posted volunteer information for the MS Pedal to the Point Ride 2009.  This is the largest volunteer event that NEOMRC in involved in every year. We encourage everyone to volunteer.

Membership Meeting — April 2010

At the April Meeting of the NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS (NEOMRC) we will be providing an American Heart Assoc Basic Life Support Refresher Class.  This class will be free to all NEOMRC members who have paid their 2010 dues, if you have not current, the class will cost $20 and included will be your 2010 Membership Dues.

In order to take this Refresher you need to meet the following requirements:

  • RSVP that you will be attending, we need to know how many books and supplies we will need.  Send me an email if you are attending.
  • You MUST hold a CURRENT AHA BLS Card or equivalent American Red Cross CPR Card [Adult, Child, Infant, Professional Rescuer, etc]
  • NEOMRC held this course in May 2007 & April 2009, if you attended that class you are eligible to attend this one.  If you are uncertain if you attended it send me an email and I will check the sign-in sheet.
If you do not meet the requirements you will need to take the Non-Refresher Course.  At this time, NEOMRC does not have one scheduled.

The date of the meeting is Thursday 04/22/2010 and will take place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.   Please note the earlier start time.

The month of April is very busy.  We have 4 walks that need to have volunteers. We require volunteers to staff the First Aid Stations along the routes.
