Membership Meeting — January 2012

At the January Meeting of the NORTHEAST OHIO MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS (NEOMRC) we will be presenting a Continuing Education Lecture, topic to be determined.   In addition this presentation we will be discussing other NEOMRC business.  The date of the meeting is Thursday 01/26/2012 and will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The meeting will be held at the SOLON MEDICAL CAMPUS of SAINT VINCENT CHARITY HOSPITAL in the basement meeting room. This facility is located at 33001 Solon Road, Solon, Ohio 44139.

All are welcome!

ADA Step Out Events

Volunteers are needed for the American Diabetes Association Step Out Events. They take place in Akron (Lock 3) on October 3rd and in Youngstown (Canfield Fairgrounds) on Oct 17th. You will be needed in the morning and should be finished by early afternoon.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Doug Dever at ddever@neomrc.org

Komen Race for the Cure – Sep 11, 2010 (Cleveland)

Once again, Medical & Communications volunteers are needed for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure® (Northeast Ohio Affiliate).

DATE & TIME: Saturday, 11 September 2010  -  Fire Shift “B” - 06:00 am to 12:00 noon

WHERE: Wolstein Center – Corner of Prospect Avenue & East 21st Street

MEDICAL Volunteers needed to staff two First Aid Stations (to volunteer you must hold a State License  as First Responders, EMTs, Paramedics, or Nurses)

COMMUNICATIONS: Amateur Radio volunteers are needed.  You will need 440 MHz (70 cm) mobile or handheld equipment.

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING. This is a short event, but it is a huge event too.  Typically there are 30,000+ participants and spectators.  We need your help to ensure a safe Race.

Greater Cleveland Triathlon

We will be supporting the Greater Cleveland Triathlon on August 8th.

We are searching for Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, First Responders, and Amateur Radio Operators to Volunteer for this event. As part of the Emergency Medical Services, you will be providing Communications and/or Emergency Medical Service along the route of the Bicycle Portion of the event only.

April Volunteer Events

The month of April is very busy.  We have 4 walks that need to have volunteers. We require volunteers to staff the First Aid Stations along the routes.

September 12th Events

On September 12th this year NEOMRC has THREE events to cover and provide support to.   For some reason all of these things came together on the same day.  The events are

  • Cleveland Kite Festival (Edgewater State Park)
    • September 12th and 13th (11 AM to 5 PM both days)
    • Medical Volunteers Needed (EMTs, Paramedics, RNs, etc)
    • Contact Doug Dever to volunteer
  • Airport Disaster Drill (Cleveland Hopkins Airport)
    • September 12th (8 AM to 1 PM)
    • Medical Volunteers Needed (EMTs, Paramedics, RNs)
    • Contact Bob Fehlner to volunteer
  • Komen Race For The Cure (Downtown Cleveland)
    • September 12th (7 AM to 1 PM)
    • Medical Volunteers Needed (EMTs, Paramedics, RNs)
    • Contact Bill Marx to volunteer

Please show your commitment to NEOMRC and help with at least one of these events.  You could even help with 2 if you plan your day well.   You can goto the Komen and when it is done head down to the Kite Festival!

Volunteers Needed — March of Dimes — March for Babies

We recived a call today from the March of Dimes.  They asked for our help to provide First Aid Coverage for their Akron Walk on the morning of May 9th.   The group they had previously scheduled could not do it.  This is short notice but I am sure we can find several people to help.  If you can help please contact Doug Dever.

MS “Pedal to the Point” Bike Ride (2008)

We have posted volunteer information for the MS “Pedal to the Point” Bike Ride. This is the largest volunteer event that NEOMRC in involved in every year. We encourage everyone to volunteer.

Family Adoption Consultants Picnic — 21 June 2008

We have been asked to provide First Aid for the Family Adoption Consultants Picnic on 21 June 2008. This is an annual event that the adoption agency holds for all of the families who have used their agency. There are usually 300 people a this picnic with lots of kids as you might expect. It runs from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
